Manufactured by Ross Rifle Company, Quebec, Canada. This example is a military-issue Model 1910 (Mark III) chambered in .303 British, featuring the straight-pull bolt action that made the Ross famous for its accuracy and unique mechanical design. Receiver marked “ROSS RIFLE CO. CANADA M-1910 PATENTED.”
The rifle retains its full-length military walnut stock with original butt disc and clear 1916-dated unit markings on the right side of the buttstock (“658 BQ 1916”). Metal finish has been arsenal refinished with a smooth dark blue surface, showing light handling wear consistent with service use. Bore remains bright with sharp rifling. Equipped with original tangent rear sight and hooded front sight base.
Bolt handle bears serial “505571**” and matches the correct Mk III pattern with the ring-style knob. The rifle is complete with its sling swivels, stacking swivel, and front barrel band. A fine representative example of Canada’s most distinctive WWI service rifle — historically significant and mechanically intriguing.
