Offered here is an exceptionally well-preserved 1943 Remington U.S. Model 1903A3 bolt-action service rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The M1903A3 was an important wartime development of the classic M1903 series, most notably featuring the receiver-mounted adjustable aperture rear sight and simplified production features designed for large-scale WWII manufacture.

One of the strongest features of this rifle is the excellent consistency of its major components. Both the receiver and barrel are Remington manufactured and date to the 1943 period, with their manufacturer and production timeframe closely corresponding. Other visible components also display consistent Remington characteristics. Based on the observable dates, markings, and component configuration, this rifle retains its original WWII Remington configuration.

The bolt assembly is particularly noteworthy, with clear Remington “R” manufacturer markings visible on multiple components, including the safety, cocking components, and other parts of the bolt assembly. The presence of numerous correctly R-marked Remington components, together with the Remington receiver and barrel, gives the rifle excellent period and manufacturer consistency.

The stock also retains important WWII U.S. military acceptance markings. A large rectangular “FJA” cartouche remains visible on the left side, associated with Frank J. Atwood and characteristic of wartime Remington M1903A3 inspection and acceptance. Additional, lighter inspection and production markings remain visible on the stock.

An old “377” marking is visible on the upper portion near the butt, while another worn rectangular marking on the left side still appears to contain “37”. As the latter is no longer completely legible, no specific interpretation is made, but these markings remain part of the stock’s historical service history.

The stock is in very good overall condition, retaining an attractive natural dark-brown military appearance. It shows honest service and storage wear, including scattered handling marks, small dents, and scratches consistent with its age. The wood remains solid and stable, with no obvious major cracks or structural damage observed. Important markings, including the FJA cartouche, remain readily visible.

The front sight cover also retains notable U.S. military markings, including “C64157-4” on one side and a clear Triangle-G manufacturer’s mark on the opposite side. A “P” proof mark is also present on the barrel. These smaller military production and inspection markings remain well preserved.

The metal finish is particularly attractive, retaining the distinctive olive-green to gray-green Parkerized appearance associated with WWII U.S. military firearms. The receiver, barrel, and major metal components display a very pleasing and consistent period appearance. Normal handling and edge wear is present, but no obvious severe corrosion is observed, and numerous original production and inspection markings remain clearly visible.

The bore is exceptionally bright and clean, with strong and clearly defined rifling. No obvious heavy corrosion or significant pitting is observed, making the bore condition another particularly attractive feature of this example.

The rifle retains its complete M1903A3 military configuration, including the receiver-mounted adjustable aperture rear sight, protected front sight, full military stock and handguards, sling hardware, and steel buttplate.

Overall, this is a very well-preserved and highly consistent 1943 Remington M1903A3, highlighted by its period-correct Remington receiver and barrel, numerous R-marked Remington components, FJA-inspected military stock, bright bore, and particularly attractive WWII olive-green Parkerized finish.
