The receiver is clearly marked “REMINGTON ARMORY 1916” and retains the Imperial Russian-style markings, confirming its original First World War Russian contract background.
This example is especially desirable as it shows clear evidence of later Finnish service and refurbishment. The rifle bears a Finnish “D” chamber marking, indicating chamber/throat modification for Finnish D-type ammunition specifications. The rear sight has also been Finnish-modified/re-marked, consistent with Finnish service use of captured or acquired M1891 rifles.
