Offered here is a very interesting Remington-made Model 1891 Mosin–Nagant rifle, manufactured in 1916 under the Russian contract, and chambered in 7.62×54R. The receiver is clearly marked “REMINGTON ARMORY 1916” and retains the Imperial Russian-style markings, confirming its original First World War Russian contract background.

This example is especially desirable as it shows clear evidence of later Finnish service and refurbishment. The rifle bears a Finnish “D” chamber marking, indicating chamber/throat modification for Finnish D-type ammunition specifications. The rear sight has also been Finnish-modified/re-marked, consistent with Finnish service use of captured or acquired M1891 rifles.

A major collector highlight is that the bolt and receiver are matching, both numbered 17258. The numbering appears consistent and properly placed, making this a strong feature for a Remington M1891 with Finnish service history.

The rifle remains in its classic long M1891 configuration, with full-length stock, handguard, barrel bands, cleaning rod, sling swivels, and original-style military furniture. The stock shows honest service wear, handling marks, scratches, and age-related dents throughout, giving the rifle strong historical character while remaining solid overall.

The muzzle has been counterbored, a common Finnish accuracy repair often performed to restore the shooting condition of rifles with worn muzzle crowns. Importantly, the bore remains very clean, bright, and sharp, with strong rifling visible in the photos.

Overall, this is a very appealing Finnish-service Remington M1891, combining American wartime manufacture, Imperial Russian contract history, Finnish military modification, and matching bolt and receiver.
