Offered here is an excellent example of the French MAS Mle 1936-51 bolt-action rifle, chambered in the original 7.5×54mm French cartridge. Developed after World War II from the proven MAS 36 platform, the Model 1936-51 introduced an integrated rifle grenade launching system while retaining the rugged and reliable bolt-action design of the original French service rifle.
Manufactured by Manufacture d’Armes de Saint-Étienne (MAS), this rifle is clearly marked “MAS Mle 1936-51.” The receiver and bolt are both serial numbered F630**, making this a desirable matching receiver and bolt example.
This rifle remains in its original military configuration, with no signs of post-service refinishing, polishing, or commercial restoration. The original military finish is well preserved, with clear markings, visible machining details, and only honest service-related wear.
The rifle retains the complete and distinctive MAS 36/51 grenade launching system, including the front launcher assembly, adjustable grenade range mechanism, and folding grenade sight. The original integrated reversible spike bayonet is also present and stores correctly beneath the barrel.
The metal condition is excellent, retaining a very nice original military finish. The hardwood stock is clean and solid with attractive natural grain. It shows typical service handling marks, with a noticeable scratch on the lower left side of the buttstock, but remains structurally stable with no major issues.
The bore is outstanding — bright, clean, with strong and sharp rifling throughout.
A highly complete and well-preserved example of the French post-war MAS 36/51 rifle, representing the transition from World War II-era bolt-action rifles into early Cold War military development.
