This BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Co. Ltd) Martini-action single-shot rifle is chambered in .22 Long Rifle and features the renowned falling-block design. It is fitted with a heavy 28.5-inch barrel and currently has an aftermarket aperture rear sight installed (note: the rear sight elevation screw is missing, but the sight remains functional).
The receiver bears a clear C-Broadarrow stamp, signifying its past use as a training rifle for the Canadian military. This model would have been employed to train marksmanship skills while using inexpensive .22 LR ammunition, closely mimicking the handling of service rifles of the era.
The rifle retains its original un-checkered walnut forend and straight walnut stock, both in excellent condition, with the buttstock upgraded to an aftermarket Boyd’s recoil pad. Barrel, receiver, and frame are all stamped with BSA markings and carry correct British proof marks. Barrel top is marked:
Made by Birmingham Small Arms Co. Ltd England – Cartridge .220 Long Rifle
Overall, this is a fine example of a historic British-made training rifle with Canadian military provenance—both a collectible and a capable target shooter.
