Classic mid-19th-century British Pattern 1853 socket bayonet, originally designed for the Enfield Pattern 1853 rifle-musket used widely during the Crimean War and by various colonial and volunteer forces through the 1860s–1870s.
This example features a triangular steel blade with fuller, socket and locking ring system, and a dark aged patina across the metal surface. The blade shows light polishing and minor age marks consistent with service and storage. Accompanied by a black leather scabbard with brass fittings (throat and tip), the stitching remains intact, and the brass exhibits natural toning from age.
Markings are visible on the socket and blade (including inspector’s marks), helping confirm its British manufacture origin.
