Offered here is a Beretta S55 over/under shotgun chambered in 12 Gauge, manufactured by P. Beretta, Gardone V.T., Italy.
Introduced during the post-war period, the Beretta S55 was one of Beretta's early commercially successful over/under shotguns and became an important predecessor to later models such as the S56, S57, and eventually the renowned 680-series. The S55 is built on Beretta's boxlock over/under action and is fitted with Beretta's High Strength Chromium Molybdenum Steel barrels, as marked on the barrel.
This example is fitted with 28-inch barrels featuring a ventilated rib and fixed Full / Full chokes. The shotgun retains its original double-trigger configuration, walnut stock and forend with factory checkering, original Beretta buttplate, and satin-finished receiver bearing the classic Beretta markings.
The receiver, barrel assembly, and forend all bear the matching serial number.
Overall condition is very good. The wood shows normal handling marks consistent with careful use, while the metal finish remains well preserved. The bores are bright and clean. One barrel has a small scratch/dent on the exterior, as shown in the photographs. The mark is cosmetic only and does not affect the shotgun's function or present any known safety concern.
An excellent example of one of Beretta's classic Italian over/under shotguns, offering original configuration, matching numbered major components, and the quality of manufacture that established Beretta's reputation in the sporting shotgun market.
