Offered here is a Beretta A301 semi-automatic shotgun chambered in 12 Gauge, manufactured in Italy by P. Beretta. Introduced during the late 1970s, the A301 is one of the classic members of Beretta's renowned 300-series gas-operated shotguns and served as the predecessor to the later A302 and A303 models. Its proven gas-operated action, lightweight alloy receiver, and traditional Italian craftsmanship have made the A301 a respected sporting shotgun for generations.
This example is fitted with a 28-inch vent rib barrel with a brass front bead sight. The barrel is currently fitted with a screw-in choke tube. However, we do not have the appropriate choke wrench available to remove the tube, and therefore we are unable to confirm the choke designation. The installed choke will remain with the shotgun.
The receiver retains the factory Beretta scroll engraving, complemented by the original walnut stock and forend with factory checkering. The wood exhibits attractive figure and remains in very good overall condition, showing only normal handling marks and minor cosmetic wear consistent with careful use over the years. The original Beretta buttplate is present. A previous owner has also applied a name label to the buttstock.
Mechanically, the shotgun functions properly. Like other early Beretta A301 shotguns, it utilizes the original carrier latch system, requiring the carrier release button to be depressed when loading the magazine with the bolt locked open—an original design characteristic of the model rather than a mechanical issue.
The bore is bright and clean, and the shotgun presents in very good overall condition both mechanically and cosmetically.
