This is an early model U.S. M1905 bayonet, clearly marked "SA" with the flaming bomb insignia and the year "1912", indicating manufacture by Springfield Armory. Originally issued for the M1903 Springfield rifle, this bayonet was later adapted to also fit the M1 Garand and M1903A3 rifles.
The bayonet features a 16-inch blade with its original dark parkerized anti-glare finish, showing honest wear and patina from age and service. The wood grips are structurally sound, and the locking mechanism functions properly, allowing secure attachment to compatible rifles.
Included is the original metal scabbard, finished in period green paint, showing expected wear consistent with field use, adding to its authenticity.
Early pre-WWI dated M1905 bayonets like this one are increasingly rare, making it an excellent collectible for U.S. military enthusiasts, historic arms collectors, or as a display companion for M1 Garand or M1903 rifles.
