Offered here is a highly desirable U.S. Springfield Armory M1 Garand chambered in .30-06 Springfield, built on an original World War II Springfield Armory receiver. This rifle represents an excellent example of a post-war military service rifle that retains its wartime foundation while documenting its continued service with the Danish military.

The receiver dates to 1942 production, placing its manufacture during the height of the Second World War. Rather than being assembled from a mixture of manufacturers, this example retains an impressive collection of Springfield Armory-produced major components, including the bolt, operating rod, and trigger housing, making it a particularly cohesive Springfield configuration from a collector's standpoint.

The rifle is fitted with a Springfield Armory replacement barrel marked D6535448 and dated 1-60 (January 1960). The barrel also bears the distinctive Danish military acceptance mark (crowned FKF), indicating it was accepted and placed into service by the Danish military during its post-war refurbishment program. This reflects the rifle's documented history as one of the M1 Garands supplied by the United States to Denmark during the Cold War, where many rifles continued military service for years after World War II.

Cosmetically, the rifle is exceptionally attractive. The walnut stock displays a striking tiger stripe grain pattern rarely encountered on service-grade Garands. The wood remains solid and stable, with no significant cracks observed, showing only the honest handling marks expected of a military rifle that saw service.

The bore is bright with strong, sharp rifling, indicating excellent internal condition. The metal finish remains in very good military condition, retaining a substantial amount of its original parkerized finish with honest service wear consistent with age and military use.

Overall, this is an outstanding collector's Garand combining a WWII Springfield receiver, Springfield-produced major components, a documented Danish military service history, an attractive tiger-striped walnut stock, and an excellent bore, making it equally appealing to both collectors and shooters.
