1. Historical Background
The Norwegian Krag–Jørgensen M/1894 is one of the classic military bolt-action rifles of the late 19th century, officially adopted by the Norwegian military in 1894.
Known for its distinctive side-loading magazine, exceptionally smooth bolt operation, and excellent craftsmanship, the Krag–Jørgensen represents an important chapter in Scandinavian military firearms history.
The rifle is chambered in 6.5×55mm Swedish, a cartridge that remains in commercial production today, with ammunition still available in North America.
2. Configuration & Condition
This example has been traditionally sporterized, with the original military stock shortened and the barrel measuring approximately 22 inches, giving it a more compact sporting rifle configuration.
The receiver has been drilled for a scope mount, allowing for the installation of a compatible scope base. Mount compatibility and hole specifications have not been verified.
The rifle retains its distinctive Krag–Jørgensen side-loading magazine system and original military-style adjustable rear sight.
The wooden stock is solid and stable, showing normal handling and service marks consistent with its age.
The metal components remain in good overall condition, retaining an attractive finish with typical age-related wear.
The bore is in good condition, with clearly visible rifling.
All mechanical functions operate normally, and the bolt action is smooth.
