his is an original Soviet Mosin-Nagant M38 Carbine, a classic WWII-era short rifle built for Red Army service.
The rifle is dated 1941 and retains a high level of serial-number consistency. The receiver, barrel, bolt body, bolt handle, and bolt components are all matching. The only exception is the magazine floorplate, which is force-matched. This is a commonly encountered and historically correct feature on arsenal-serviced Mosin rifles and is fully consistent with Soviet refurbishment practices.
The rifle is fitted with a correct M38-pattern hardwood stock and retains its cleaning rod, a feature often missing on M38 carbines. The stock shows honest service wear and natural patina with no structural issues.
Metal components display the correct military finish and expected service wear. Markings remain clear and well defined, with no signs of excessive polishing or modern refinishing.
All major exterior features remain correct for the M38 configuration, including the front sight base, barrel bands, and overall wartime carbine layout.
Please note that the muzzle area shows evidence of having been lightly reworked, with a slightly turned-down exterior profile ahead of the front sight base and a recessed crown. The barrel length remains correct and unchanged, and the front sight base remains in its original position. This type of work is occasionally encountered on surplus Mosin-Nagant rifles and may have been performed at some point during the rifle’s service life to refresh the muzzle.
The bore shows strong, visible rifling with good reflectivity, making this example suitable both as a shooter and as a historically representative collectible.
Overall, this is a correctly configured wartime M38 carbine with authentic service character and desirable completeness.
