This is a fully verified Schmidt–Rubin Kadetten Gewehr 1899, chambered in 7.5×53.5mm GP90, with matching serial numbers throughout the rifle (except the magazine). These rifles were issued to Swiss military schools and cadet corps, and are significantly rarer than standard infantry models.

Why this rifle is confirmed to be an authentic 1899 Cadet Model (Kadetten Gewehr)

This rifle matches every known identifying feature of the 1899 Cadet:

Correct Serial Number Range
Cadet rifles are documented in the approximate 40,000–90,000 serial block.
This rifle’s serial 637** fits squarely within the established 1899 Kadetten range.

Shortened and Lightened 1899-Type Receiver
Unlike the long, tall receiver of the Infanteriegewehr 1889, this rifle features the improved, compact 1899 pattern receiver—exactly what the Kadetten models used.

Reduced-Length Left Receiver Opening
Cadet models use a shorter feedway cut compared to the very long opening of the 1889.
This rifle matches the 1899 pattern perfectly.

Correct 1899-Pattern Lower Rear Bridge
The rear bridge is noticeably lower and slimmer than the 1889 type.
This geometry is exclusive to 1897/1899 cadet-series rifles.

Lightweight Fore-End and Correct Stock Nose Profile
The slimmer, more streamlined nose cap area corresponds to cadet training rifles, not infantry rifles.

Correct GP90-Pattern Magazine Well & Feeding Geometry
The rifle is built around GP90 cartridge dimensions.
Even though the magazine isn’t matching, its dimensions correctly match the early GP90 cadet style.

Original Swiss Brass Muzzle Protector (Krallen-Schoner M1890)
This extremely rare brass muzzle cap fits perfectly on the 1899 cadet barrel profile and cannot fit on later GP11 rifles.
This is strong physical confirmation of GP90-era manufacture.

Together, these indicators provide a complete and unquestionable identification:
This is a genuine 1899 Cadet rifle, not an 1889, 1896/11, or any later model.
