Ross Rifle Co. Quebec Model 1905 straight-pull rifle chambered in .303 British, commonly referred to by collectors as the Ross “Mk II” pattern. The receiver ring is crisply marked:

“ROSS RIFLE CO. QUEBEC CANADA 1905”
“PATENTED”

confirming the correct 1905-pattern military configuration.

The barrel shank shows a clear “C” over broad arrow Canadian government property stamp, indicating formal military acceptance. The bolt handle root bears a small star inspector’s mark over letters resembling “GB”, consistent with Ross factory inspection stamps of the period.

The main serial number is factory-stamped under the bolt handle in the typical two-line Ross style, reading 6089***(last digit slightly indistinct but original in placement and font). Other components have not been fully verified for matching numbers.

This rifle remains in full military configuration, with straight-pull bolt action, 5-round internal magazine, sling swivels, and a steel buttplate with trap for cleaning gear. It retains the early-production contoured upper handguard, a distinctive feature seen only on early Model 1905 rifles.

The rear sight assembly is confirmed to be original Ross factory manufacture. Both sides and the inner surface of the sight base display small crown-over-“9” inspection marks,These are consistent with Ross factory part-inspection and assembly stamps, serving as strong evidence that the sight is an original component fitted at the factory rather than a later substitution.

Metal surfaces show an attractive and even patina, with thinning original blue but no heavy pitting or corrosion. The stock appears unrefinished, showing natural handling marks without cracks or repairs. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling, and the straight-pull action cycles smoothly with solid lock-up.

Overall, this is a highly desirable early-production Ross Model 1905 / “Mk II” Canadian military rifle, featuring C/arrow property mark, star inspector stamp, early contoured handguard, and crown-marked original rear sight — a well-preserved, authentic example ideal for advanced Ross or Canadian service rifle collections.
