Offered here is a Japanese Arisaka Type 99 chambered in 7.7×58 Japanese, one of the standard service rifles used by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II.

This rifle was manufactured by Toyo Kogyo, the Hiroshima-based company that produced large numbers of Type 99 rifles during the war. The receiver also shows the “Hiro” inspection mark, indicating inspection within the Hiroshima Army Arsenal district.

This example remains in honest original military condition with no signs of modern refinishing. The metal surfaces retain their original bluing and the overall metal condition is very good, with no visible rust spots observed.

The rifle is equipped with the desirable anti-aircraft rear sight wings, a distinctive feature found on earlier Type 99 rifles and a detail appreciated by collectors.

The Imperial chrysanthemum on the receiver has been partially ground, a condition commonly seen on surrendered Japanese rifles after the war. The chrysanthemum has not been completely removed and remains partially visible.

The stock remains in original condition with no cracks present. The wood shows normal service wear and handling marks accumulated during military use but remains structurally solid.

The original cleaning rod is present.

The bore shows clear signs of use but remains bright with no visible rust. Rifling is still clearly visible to the naked eye.

Overall, this is an honest and well-preserved example of a WWII Type 99 Arisaka rifle that retains its original finish, anti-aircraft sight, and cleaning rod while displaying the authentic character expected from a genuine military service rifle.
