This Lee-Enfield SMLE No.1 Mk III* was manufactured in 1916, during the First World War.
The rifle retains its original military-style configuration, including the full-length wooden stock, military iron sights, brass buttplate, and detachable 10-round magazine.
Condition
Wood: Overall good condition, with attractive wood grain and normal signs of age and use. There is a thin hairline crack on the right side of the handguard near the rear sight. It appears stable and does not appear to affect the structural integrity of the wood. Please refer to the photos.
Metal: Metal components are in very good overall condition. The external metal parts have been protected by a coating of Cosmoline for many years. Due to age, some of the preservative grease has become thick and sticky. Buyers may disassemble and clean the rifle themselves if desired.
Matching Numbers: The receiver, bolt, and rear sight all have matching serial numbers.
Bore: Good bore with clearly visible rifling.
Stock Accessories: The rifle retains its brass stock identification disc and includes a metal oil bottle stored in the buttstock compartment.
