Offered here is an original British Lee-Enfield No. 5 Mk I Jungle Carbine, manufactured at the Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley in October 1944. A distinctive WWII-era rifle, the No. 5 Mk I was developed as a lighter and more compact version of the standard No. 4 rifle, intended for airborne troops and jungle warfare in Southeast Asia.

This example features the classic blade front sight with protective ears and ramp, paired with a milled adjustable rear peep sight graduated to 800 yards. The rifle retains its blued metal finish, showing areas of wear, scratches, and handling marks consistent with service use. It is stocked in the traditional three-piece military hardwood furniture with pistol grip, showing dings, scratches, and wear throughout. Equipped with sling swivels and fitted with a reproduction Pattern 1937 canvas sling. The buttstock retains the characteristic black rubber recoil pad unique to the Jungle Carbine.

Markings:

  • Receiver: "Fazakerley 10/44"

  • Serial numbers mismatched, typical of service rifles.

Condition Notes:

  • Metal: Scratches, bluing wear, and handling marks.

  • Wood: Dings, scratches, and overall handling wear.

  • Bore: Strong rifling visible (see photos).

A solid representative example of the iconic WWII British Jungle Carbine, ideal for collectors of Commonwealth surplus arms or enthusiasts of WWII small arms history.
