Offered for sale is an early production Italian Carcano Modello 1891 long rifle, manufactured at the Terni arsenal and dated 1894. This example represents a classic late 19th century Italian service rifle in its original full-length infantry configuration.
This rifle retains the correct long rifle profile, including the full-length barrel and the original long-range ladder rear sight, which is a defining feature of the M1891 infantry pattern. Unlike the later M91/41 rifles or the more commonly encountered carbines, true long rifle examples such as this are noticeably less common on the Canadian surplus market.
The receiver is marked Terni 1894, confirming early production within the Italian Kingdom period. Additional inspection markings including ROCCA are present, indicating military acceptance within the Italian arsenal system.
The metal components remain in original finish, showing honest wear and natural patina consistent with age. There is no indication of modern refinishing on the metal surfaces.
The stock has been refinished at some point, with visible sanding and re-oiling. Portions of the original stock markings remain faintly visible.
