This rifle is a Hungarian-manufactured Mosin-Nagant M44 carbine, produced in 1952 by FÉG (Fegyver- és Gépgyár) in Budapest. Hungarian M44 carbines were manufactured post-World War II and are well regarded for their consistent build quality and relatively limited production compared to Soviet counterparts.

The rifle retains correct Hungarian features throughout, including the original side-folding bayonet assembly, proper M44 rear sight, and matching Hungarian serial number format with a “BD” prefix. Clear Hungarian “02 / B02” inspection and acceptance marks are present on the metal components and stock, confirming authentic Hungarian military origin. All major components appear correct to the rifle and consistent with Hungarian military configuration; please note that the bolt serial number does not match the receiver, while the remaining components and stock are correctly marked.

The wood stock shows honest service wear consistent with military use, with no structural issues observed. The metal finish remains in solid condition, and the bore is strong with clearly defined rifling, making this example particularly desirable among surplus M44 carbines.

Hungarian M44 rifles are less commonly encountered on the market than Soviet-produced examples and are sought after by collectors looking to diversify beyond standard Russian variants.
