Offered here is a Brno-produced K98k Mauser bolt-action rifle chambered in 7.92×57mm Mauser (8mm Mauser). This rifle was assembled after the war using authentic WWII-era wartime components, representing a well-known category of K98k rifles assembled from original German military parts that remained in Czechoslovakia after the end of World War II.
During WWII, the Zbrojovka Brno (Brünn) factory was one of the major production facilities manufacturing K98k rifles and components for the German military. Under German control, the Brno factory produced large numbers of rifles and parts that were inspected and accepted under the German military Waffenamt system.
After the war, many of these wartime parts remained in Czechoslovakia. In the years that followed, surviving components were often reorganized and assembled into complete rifles. The scrubbed receiver factory code and the struck-out eagle markings on the receiver and barrel area are clear indications that this rifle was assembled after the war from wartime-produced parts.
The receiver left side is numbered 62** and retains several visible factory machining and inspection marks, including a circled “T,” “F3,” and “T”.
The visible serial numbers on the rifle match with the exception of the rear sight assembly. The firing pin has been force-matched to serial number 62**, and importantly the firing pin retains a clear wartime Eagle / WaA63 inspection mark, confirming that this component is an original wartime inspected part produced within the Brno manufacturing system.
The rifle does not include a cleaning rod.
Overall condition of the rifle is very good. The bore shows clearly visible rifling, and the rifle appears mechanically solid. The stock is clean and complete with no visible cracks, and the wood remains strong and structurally sound.
While not an untouched wartime-issued matching K98k, rifles of this type offer collectors an opportunity to own a rifle built from genuine wartime-produced components manufactured at the Brno arsenal, retaining the machining quality and manufacturing standards of wartime K98k production. Compared to original wartime-issued K98k rifles, examples like this are often more affordable while still offering excellent practical shooting capability.
We have provided a large number of detailed photographs so that collectors can carefully examine and analyze the markings, machining, and overall condition of the rifle.
