A historically significant Remington-manufactured Mosin-Nagant Model 1891 rifle, produced in 1916 under contract for Imperial Russia. Chambered in 7.62x54R, this rifle features the desirable hex receiver and crisp “REMINGTON ARMORY 1916” marking with Imperial crest.

This example bears the Finnish Army “SA” property mark, denoting official service use by the Suomen Armeija (Finnish Defence Forces). After the Russian Revolution, Finland acquired large numbers of Remington and Westinghouse M1891 rifles left over from the broken Tsarist contract, subsequently issuing them to Finnish troops during the 1918 Civil War and the Winter/Continuation Wars.

The rifle’s bolt is officially force-matched to the receiver (serial no. 138**), with older serials partially scrubbed — a clear sign of arsenal-level renumbering during refurbishment, not civilian alteration. The bore remains bright with strong rifling, and the metal surfaces show an even, honest patina. The stock retains its full-length wartime configuration with visible field wear but no structural damage. All major components — cleaning rod, sling swivels, and sights — are intact.

This rifle uniquely combines American manufacturing precision with Finnish wartime history, representing one of the most authentic and historically layered Mosin-Nagant rifles of the early 20th century.
