Offered here is an original Soviet Mosin-Nagant Model 1938 (M38) carbine, manufactured in 1941 at the Izhevsk Arsenal during the early period of World War II.

This rifle bears the correct Izhevsk arrow-in-star arsenal marking and a clearly stamped 1941 date on the barrel shank. The barrel and bolt retain matching serial numbers, while the receiver serial number was force-matched during a Soviet arsenal refurbishment, a common and accepted practice in military service.

The M38 was produced as a lightweight, compact carbine without a permanently mounted bayonet, distinguishing it from the later M44. Its shorter barrel and simplified configuration were intended for improved mobility, and original examples are notably scarcer than M44 carbines on today’s market.

This rifle has undergone a period-correct Soviet arsenal refurbishment and is fitted with a laminated stock, consistent with post-war military maintenance practices. The stock remains solid with honest service wear, while the metal surfaces retain a uniform arsenal blue finish with characteristic wartime machining marks.

The bore is in good condition with strong, visible rifling, and the muzzle has not been counterbored. The original cleaning rod is not present. Overall, this is a correct and well-preserved example of a wartime-produced M38 carbine, suitable for both collection and shooting.
