This bayonet is a classic Cold War–era AKM Type II/III pattern, featuring a 6-inch steel blade paired with its original scabbard and leather belt frog. The scabbard incorporates the wire-cutter attachment design, allowing the bayonet and scabbard to be combined as a functional cutting tool—an iconic innovation of the AKM bayonet series. The grip is made from durable bakelite-style composite in the typical reddish-brown tone, paired with a steel crossguard and securing mechanism.
Beyond its function as a bayonet, this piece reflects the broader history of the Cold War. Following the introduction of the AKM rifle in 1959, the Soviet Union standardized this style of bayonet across Warsaw Pact and allied nations. These bayonets saw widespread use not only within Eastern Europe but also across proxy conflicts in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, making them one of the most recognizable military sidearms of the 20th century.
A complete and collectible example, ideal for enthusiasts of Cold War militaria, AK-pattern accessories, or anyone seeking a historically significant addition to their collection.
