This is an authentic British Martini-Henry Mk IV rifle, fully inspected and re-issued at the Royal Small Arms Factory Enfield in 1888. Chambered in the classic .577/450 Martini-Henry cartridge.
The receiver shows clear Victorian markings including "V.R.", "ENFIELD", and the 1888 inspection date, along with British military proof marks. The action is numbered 19**, and the barrel bears its original serial 59** with multiple British acceptance stamps—an indicator of genuine service use and later arsenal overhaul. Serial mismatch is completely standard for Enfield-reworked Martini rifles.
The bore condition is exceptional for a 19th-century black-powder rifle. Rifling remains sharp, bright, and clean with strong lands and grooves—far superior to the majority of surviving Martini-Henry examples. This adds significantly to both collectability and value.
The rifle retains its correct Mk IV pattern long forend, barrel bands, sling swivels, and the original cleaning rod. Wood shows honest field wear with period carvings on the buttstock, adding unique character and history.
This is a true piece of British military heritage—perfect for collectors of Victorian-era rifles, Anglo-Zulu War period arms, and Commonwealth military firearms.
