Offered here is a classic Gevarm Carabine Automatique A3 Target Model, a French-made .22LR semi-automatic training and target rifle. Gevarm rifles were widely used in Europe for recreational shooting, training, and small-bore competition during the mid-20th century, and are known for their simple yet very reliable design.
This example is the A3 target configuration, featuring the distinctive open-bolt operating system, which is somewhat unusual among .22LR sporting rifles and contributes to very smooth cycling and reliable feeding.
The rifle retains its original adjustable rear sight assembly marked “Made in France”, along with a front sight hood and interchangeable front sight inserts. Included with the rifle are four additional front sight indicator plates, allowing the shooter to select different sight pictures depending on preference or lighting conditions—an excellent feature for target shooting.
The rifle comes with its detachable magazine and a leather sling. The wood stock remains in good condition with normal handling marks consistent with age, while the metal finish appears well preserved. The bore shows strong rifling, as visible in the photos.
This is a very interesting example of a French small-bore target rifle, combining practical design with features rarely seen on typical .22LR sporting rifles.
